So you get the interview and now you are trying to decide on something appropriate to wear. You want objective advice from your family but all you get is the classic that looks fine to me response.

Here are 20 ideas of what you should stay away from when going to a job interview. Hopefully it will help narrow down your options.

1. Sunglasses on top of your head or headphones around your neck

2. Carrying a backpack or fannypack instead of a briefcase or portfolio

3. Too-short skirts

4. The wrong tie

5. Overly bright or large patterned clothing

6. Heavy makeup on women

8. More than one set of earrings on women

9. Facial piercings, tongue jewelry or visible tattoos
